The mechanism

Verification rewards
decrease over time.

Verification rewards follow a halving structure — the base reward per verification reduces by half at defined intervals.

The Standing's halvings are not triggered by an arbitrary schedule. They are triggered by verified ecological reality.

There is no other digital asset whose emission schedule is governed by the biological state of organisms in the real world.

Epoch structure

Epoch 1 onwards — Subsequent halvings
Governed by living trees.
At the start of each epoch
L
is measured — the count of active living trees whose last valid verification occurred within the past 12 months. L is fixed at the epoch boundary.
Halving threshold
V = 3 × L
V is the number of valid verifications required to trigger the next halving. The counter resets to zero at each epoch boundary.
What counts

Both outcomes
count equally.

The halving counter does not distinguish between trees confirmed alive and trees confirmed no longer alive.

What matters is that the verification was valid — that someone did the work of checking.

Tree confirmed alive
A valid verification confirming the tree is standing and alive. Counts toward the halving counter. Rewards the verifier, planter, and oracle.
Tree confirmed no longer alive
A valid verification confirming the tree has died or been removed. Counts equally toward the halving counter. Same reward distribution applies.
Invalid or rejected verifications
Verifications that do not meet submission requirements are not approved and do not count toward the counter or generate rewards.
